Nobody Lives Here - Free Verse Poem

You only release the tears when you realize,

That your mind did not make up these thoughts after all

The voices that used to comfort you and make you feel part of the parade

Leave you to be haunted by forlorn streets marked by debris instead of footprints

That would remind you that you were still alive, still here

But now you are only reminded by the rush of emotions

The adrenaline that paced like the intruders that ripped your town

As if it was the rotting fruit of the street vendors, a cacophony of sounds

Of a raging hail of bullets beneath their merciless shadows

Didn’t even spare the skin, and kicked the bones

That once worked together to build this city’s heart

They carved it apart with the single thing they were taught

That their laws would not consider anything in their paths

Even the whimpers of a newborn babe

Because their nature was to only discard The Nature

That wanted to shield them from corruption till the grave

I wonder if they remember the sacrifice in the eyes of

Mothers

Brought to be a mass slaughter of lambs, and their lullabies echo, grieves joy

I wonder when they will learn to speak the language of the tongue

Instead of the quick-paced talk of the gun, not chosen to protect, but to destroy

Pushes us to the edge of borders

That have never been crossed except in the tales we’ve heard from our ancestors

I thought we could visit it sometime, feel for another destination

But we only plead for life, in desperation

We don’t know how to swim, but I’d rather stain the sea with my blood, left forgotten

Instead of drenched across my land to cover the beauty

Of my brothers and sisters engraved footprints

And the shattered pieces of stone shaped with love, that framed our unity

A unity that cannot be broken even with their weapons that warn us

To segregate ourselves to be cleansed, like they’ve teared up humanity in their souls

That is the only thing they have failed to have stole

Failed to reduce my land to a memory, which now stands as a legacy

In fact they have lost to their own

Their own power, their own city’s mud

They claim to have won

But there will be no noises to cheer you on, no voices to call you Son

To an oasis destroyed by their declared fears, built on feigned perfidious proclamation

Cowardly state your absolute words

“Nobody lives here”

eyes, poetry, war, life, nobody lives here

Daily Chores and the Two Sides of my Face

The daily chores and the two sides of my face takes you to a poetic journey which takes you into a woman's daily chores to my worn out look and finally, how I manage to look good without make-up.

Read, Enjoy and give it a Thought !

Get up and run, there's no time to ruin
From washing to cooking, get all jobs done
Put onions, pumpkins and carrots to boil
Sip the soup and clean the mess, from dirts to oil
Now it's time for school, so get ready for a bath
Rushing through the time, I follow my usual path
Back home again, but gets chasing the kids to eat
Trust me! Putting the home back to shape is not a treat
The night time has arrived, yet I had things to do
Teaching lessons that seems to increase as the kids grew
Although the day's work is over, I had mine to complete
For to blog, it is only on the night time I sit

The next and the next, days arrived and went by
One day, I stood to see my refection as I passed by
Mirror mirror on the wall, tell me how do I look
She refrained, and reflected that I look more of a cook
All work and no rest, took its toll on my face
Dark circles and worn out look reduced my grace
I stand there looking at the so called image of "me"
Yes, I'm not 20 and I need more shine on my face, I agree
But, spending time on make up and other things
No, not for me as with short time look it brings
I complained and told that I looked for something better
That which does all-in-1 job and that which lasts longer
I stood near the mirror, munching on my thought
Sighing now and then on my pale skin and black spots
Snap! in a second the image from the mirror came alive
Rested something on my hand and said this is what I need to thrive
Slowly opening my hands, I saw a name Miracle Skin Perfector
I looked to see the image getting back into the mirror and dissappear

I opened the tube and squeezed out a little of Garnier BB cream
Applying in circles on my face, feeling the smooth gleam
Ah! it is time again and I start to run around the home in and out
With the repetitive house hold chores, not one or two but a lot
Time again, I went past by the mirror and stopped to call
Mirror mirror on the wall, tell me how do I look once for all
She popped out her eyes and grinned at me with a list
Telling that she couldn't believe I had in me so much beauty that exists
She touched my skin saying that it looks noticeably smoother
With good sun protection, the tone on my skin looked brighter
Furthur she added, that my facial contours appear more defined
With reduced lines and long lasting effect, I found all in one of the kind
It was her time to go, but now she disappeared not into the mirror but into me
Saying that it was now a younger and healthier woman, is what she sees
To what I had been once, to what reflection now I had seen
I assure that Garnier BB cream fits perfectly into my daily routine

Bittersweet Kiss

Image prompt from Magpie Tales

The sweetness of the lips
Bonds with the tartness
Opposites they are in taste
but holds the same look
Colors! Colors! Colors!
Is what makes them alike
like the skin of a man
which drapes his personality
You look, taste and grumble
But without those painless relief
that only colors can offer
nothing else seems to be the same.
It's a bittersweet kiss!
dynamite combination

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day !

happy mothers day

You feel blessed whenever I smile
And for every tear drops of mine,
you suffer in  silence
Every time I evolve in this life,
you were proud of my achievements
And you always stay beside me
consoling whenever I'm desolated

You help me to move forward
And you follow suit
to my every footsteps
Just to catch hold of me
if I may fall down

What shall I do Mom?
Just like a root of a plant
you happen to react with my every moves
that I harbor in this environment

Maybe because of this reason
I cannot have just this one day to thank you
A Happy Mothers Day
but I do need a countless lifetime

- the above poem is the translation of what I have written in Tamil

Building Love With You

If I have wings to fly, I would fetch the stars
to bring some twinkling in your eyes
If I know to swim, I would build a coral swing
brought from under the deep blue sea
But all I could do is to use my legs
to walk with you, beside you always

I will write a couple of love songs
so as to sing to make you feel loved
I will run my fingers into your hair
Slightly brushing and playing as you sleep
I will spend time to decorate my dish
cooked with love and care to eat
In deep silence,
I would walk far whereever you lead me,
With not a word spoken,
but still feeling good around you.

We shall travel far to the Shakespeare village
To dance and sing ballads of love
Let's also travel far to Verona in Italy,
To feel love on Romeo and Juliet's balcony
Why not visit the Taj Mahal or the Eiffel Tower
We shall propose and start our love all over again

Sometimes, I wish to escape to an island
where we both are all alone, just you and me
We shall make love drenching in the sea water
or become kids again building sand castles
We shall rise with the sun, and slumber
on each other arms watching the setting sun
Let's get started, to travel far away
Sweeping across the ocean bay
Even if  you can't promise me a Taj Mahal
We shall possess a family with love
Nothing more, Nothing less but all I want is
To be with you in a place where I'm just all yours

Memories

Wrenched skin
Broken wings
of things that once engrossed my childhood

They lay every where
on the ceilings and on the floor
the innocence of my life
engraved in woods and stones
Here is the sofa once my grandpa used
He liked it so much, it's his cosy zone
Right after work, this is where he rests in peace

That broken Tele, how can I forget
the cheers and the smiles, this gadget
aired my first cartoon show
as I sat watching from my grandpa's lap

Yes! I could smell those dishes
arising from my grandma kitchen
all cooked for us three, to eat and chat.
Oh No! but what remains are
those broken wooden tops
How much she adored those place

Years have passed and things have changed
but still there was life
in this locked up home and
inside these wrecked things
" Ah! My Memories"

Soon, I made up my mind
Not to sell this country side house
For which I have traveled far from west
These memories are not to be destroyed
but to be renovated and preserved.

The Rain Poem

Rain
Moist and cool
Cleans my wrath
Filling my heart
With unsaid music
Soaking in my pain
And beauty
Sings and unheard song
Making me wait for long
Soothe my form
“Shelter my soul”

Rain
A miraculous way
Of washing dirt
That covers the earth
Grasses dances in mirth
Moistness empties the thirst
Of all the plants and the trees
Without you O’ rain
our energy will drain
Nourish every grain
“Shelter My Growth”

Gorgeous Lady!

To my best friend Tamilarasi (Kavitha),
Written just for you!

Recently when we spoke about the Dove Beauty Bar Soap Guessing game test, you agreed to come over Skype for the game. And when I said, I will be writing a public letter to you, you were like " Are you telling me the truth?". Yes, and here is the truth (but it is something related to looks/beauty dear) .

Do you remember our college times when we were talking about lipsticks and the reason why ladies prefer wearing lipstick during our Environmental class. You doodled a sketch, wrote  the reasons on a slip of paper and passed it to me just under the desk to avoid unwanted attraction from near by buddies. I will read it , chuckle and even question you about the same through the paper and our conversations continues. All these were happening while the class was still going on but we were just sailing in our own world of "you know what" and "is that so?". Only if our professor knows what was going on then.

You were on cloud nine when I told you that you look awesome in the way you have dressed up. And whenever you believed what I said, you give out a big bright white tooth smile - the reason why our soil engineering professor nicknamed you as Colgate girl ( not going deep into the subject now). But true to the fact, you made me contagious with your smile that soon transforms into laughter. Your next question (asking nearly 3 times in three different ways) will be about how do you look like in this dress/make-up and my answer will always be "You are a GORGEOUS lady!" [smile :)]. You were like a big sister for me telling me do this and that with my looks and even pester me that I am not taking care of my looks. And I always give in myself at the mercy of your hands.

You taught me how to style my hair telling me that you were the best hair stylist. I pretended to believe you and in fact gave my hair a sacrifice in your hands a number of times. Thankfully you avoided scissors and only worked with the comb ;).

We both were for each other at every ups and downs of our life even after we got married. My very first gift to you was a big make-up kit (hope you have it safe). Name it luck or fate, I guess we are meant to be with each other and because of it, we now staying close even in a far away country. Our friendship has crossed more than a decade and still we hold the same spark of liveliness and silly talks pulling each other legs whenever we get together or on our week end phone calls.

I got this eyeliner and it is so good...today I changed my lipstick color and it is brand new :p.. Did you get N7 cosmetic brand? The sale is going on over here..., the Dove soap really helps my skin....you know my hubby presented me with three dresses for my birthday (did he!)....When are you coming home?...Shall we hold a week end party ? and so on.

Now, our beauty topics have been extended with our daughters. Not to forget, we both use Dove soap for our daughters too. And now that I have another partner in beauty things (my daughter), she is subjected to a hell lots of things from me (she actually runs from one pillar to another away from me) with doing her hair styles, make-up and dressings...and before you open your mouth, What are daughters then for! (he he he)

At times, we argue such that

I wished...
I never had a friend like you
for you are my worst criticizer
You easily points out where my mistakes lies
and drive me mad by your everlasting advice

Did I ever wish that I could have a friend like you ?
Being with you is a big err
I can't bear this long for goodness sake
Just give me time to take a break

But many times,

I wished...
I wished if ever will I have a friend like you
who is always present to wipe my tear
the one I can rely on far and near
for you give me your voice to support

You comfort me and hold my hand tight
Always caring any time, day or night

How could I never wish to have a friend like you?
No matter how important or silly matters we converse
We enjoy being together, in laughter we immerse
I don’t know how to rate our friendship or to measure
But I know that I needed to preserve it as a treasure

At final word, thank you for being my best friend and hope we pass this gift to our daughters too and so on...

The Wings of Desire

The Wings of Desire - Image prompt [The Mag]
I am neither a bird nor a fairy
But I do possess special wings
Which peeps out now and then
Whenever I stare into your eyes

Oh! My Wings of Desire
They open up whenever I see you
Dazzling through my window pane
Like a tiny bird, I pop around
Looking what beauty awaits outside
Shining bright under your sunlight

As winter arrives, you waved goodbye
Moving fast paving way to the darkness
And I sit still near my fireplace,
Gazing at those fierce light reminiscing
Of the days I was engrossed in your warmth

The bells beckons a festival approaching
With your tiny descendants on every road
"Merry Christmas" they light up jiggling on every home
And once again my wings stretch in the flash of your light

Gratitude !

This birth, the heaven has sent
to the hands that embraced in love and affection
The Kiss that your lips had sowed in
Bloomed thousands smile on my path
Every year I count my blessings,
Hugs, gifts, compassion and lovely things
As I sit this day to write the goodness
that my life had bestowed on me
I struggle to jot down the lists
Not one, not two but there are many
I need no paper to pen them down
All I needed was a heart that commends
and pass the same good vibe around

Preserving Memories through Photos

Life can be filled fun
when we go out exploring
into the woods and on the mountains
drenching ourselves in Nature's love

Different feelings, different exposure
experienced on different terrains

Fondling breeze, sweltering summer
Rocky mountain, Hilly roads
Swamping, Sandy and Snowy terrains
all brings in a different adventure

Different abode, different ambience
experienced on different terrains

Go by walk , Go by car
Choose your destination
the way you fancy
Camera shots, preserving memories
Social sharing, making eyes envy

Different sensations, different memories
experienced on different terrains

The above lines goes well with the following Photo shots based on different terrains. I specifically picked these images that capture the essence of different types of terrains from my own photo collections of about five years. I like to capture anything and everything around me with whatever gadgets I have in my hand when I visit places so that I don't forget the moments I got mesmerised with the beauty of the nature.

These images are photo shots taken from many parts of the world like Pondicherry Beach in India, Woburn Safari Park in UK, etc. The photos were taken in different modes of transport like SUV cars, while travelling by Train and by walk while visiting these places. These memorable collection have different stories and different experience in accordance with the weather, vehicle, people and foods experienced on these different terrains.

Ring The Bell, a Hundredth Time!

She, a child walked to a street shop
Was learning how she was treated with care
That shopkeeper was so nice to her
Had his hands over the child's body everywhere
She came home with a free lollipop
Frightened mom knew the truth
She was just a young bud, not yet a girl
Ring the bell! Shame on such men

Music as I have heard of Micheal Jackson - King of Pop

Music as I heard when I was young is forever the one I always cherish. This is true not only for me but most of you out there.Being born and brought up in India, Tamil songs always holds a special place in my heart and choosing a special one from the long list is hard .But when it comes to English songs ,I have a priority list .Who can deny that the great pop legend Micheal Jackson inspired me a lot through his music albums .

One thing I have to say about him is that most of the songs (apart from wooing girls) are related to a cause.I loved his Heal the World and Earth song which is necessary in today's scenario .I love They don't care about us (for the drums), Remember the time (wow, the animations ) and Billie Jeans(again for music). How would you engage yourself in is Ghost album? Freaky Creepy dance moves, isn't it .

Below is my amalgamation of most songs by this King of Pop

Who is it?
In the closet
Little Susie ...She's
Another part of me
from my Childhood

Give In to me
In the Break of the dawn
by the Lady in my life
Dirty diana
Now we are Just good friends
Remember the time
Her Scream
Her Cry
Threatened my Privacy
Oh Man, She drives me wild
Now,She is out of my life
I cant help it
Heartbreaker
But,as for my baby
Baby be mine
The girl is mine
Whatever happens
Can't let her get away

Who is it ?
I'm a Stranger in Moscow
Without Money
Too BAD
Street walker's
They don't care about us
We Come together
Back from History
Man in the mirror
Keep the faith
Wanna be starin'somethin'
at least for my Little Susie
I just cant stop loving you
Her Smile
The vision Blood on the dance floor
Left me Speechless
The Lost Children
Betrayed bySmooth criminals
Fly away

Oh! Heal the world
Black or White
Don't walk away
Come Together
Sing the Earth song
This Time around

Recipe for Cuppa of Coffee

A cup of coffee is all we need
The master of chemistry sniffs
the aroma that arises from within
a teaspoon of brown caffeine.
To make the bitter brown better,
another teaspoon of sugar adds in
Two contrasts appear in one cup.

The mixture yet needs to be blend
For two opposites to blend in perfect,
all we need is the love of white milk.
That evening,as I indulge in my brew
I swallowed what I call real life
that the recipe for a cuppa of coffee offered
Each piece of my home relates to
that one cup of life with blended Love
And whenever, I sniff the aroma ,I smile
Life is nothing but a recipe of cuppa of coffee

The Death Of A Soul - Poetry cum Video

Ruptures left by molestation
cease to seal , her pale cut skin
She hides behind the framework
of her ripped bones
Like carpel of Seville orange,
she confines herself under the rind
A worm coiling herself safe
from the eyes that quest
She is in trauma impending
The death of her soul

Molestation everywhere,
on the road , on the way
for her looks and words she says
Her gleaming flesh , a child's play
Her tears now seemed passe
None to daunt or dare
the tauting mob that preys

Metamorphism at its last stage
The cocoon seemed heavy
She needed justice, not questions
She broke the shell one last time
and out more confident she came.
Her only weapon is her feminism
She chose to fight skepticism

This damsel in distress ,
anticipating solace, her only need then
whose saviours came after damage done
She still holds on, awaits her justice
for more colleens out there,
looking up to her conducts.
" The death of a Soul "
is just the beginning ....

She Chose To Fight
She Chose To Fly

Healthy Care , Wealthy Hair !

SHAPE POETRY - DOVE ME INTO LOVE

Healthy Care , Wealthy Hair !

Warning ! they gave straight
Something was not right
Hands reach out to my hair
Itching and Scratching
To a point I can't bear

Beset , they tumbled
Hairfall happened
as I brush my hair with comb
Clutching its teeth, detached ones smirk
Making me jump with a jerk

Slowly dandruff erupts the surface
Like earthquake, scales flakes
Dryness has invaded my scalp
Initiating the itching back
Thinning my stems with split hairs
Making me more vulnerable to care
I have to restore its balance
Assembling things of Importance

Alternating Shampoos made problems worse
I had nothing to do but just curse
Leaving me in perplexed silence at last
Slowly reviving memories of the past

" Eat Greens, Carrot and Beans
And use lukewarm water to clean
Eat two Egg Yolks a day
Try the yellow on head some day
Use Hibiscus , Aloe Vera and Milk
They make your hair shine like silk
Apply oils everyday to moisture your hair
These routine makes your hair, a sure care"
These voices sounded inside my head
The words that my Parents and Elders said .

A last try , I finally made
And realised the truth that stayed
Today I have crossed thirty plus
I have no complains nor do I fuss
Except for the silver threads that peeps about
Yearning to scream my age out
No dyes I use to color my hair truly
For I chose to Age Gracefully

Hairs, still an important body part
Have their own unique age chart
Growing along with us, thick and thin
Protecting and Nourishing our skin
Sluggish when down and Shining as they grin
Hairs predicts our Health from within

I am pleased to write a poem
about an Healthy Care
that delivered me a Wealthy Hair
...and that was the end of my hair problems!

Men loves Women who takes pride in looking after themselves be it in the way they dress, their approach to a problem, being a solution provider and by the way she ties up her hair , clean and neat  .A little of primping and preening she does makes her hone her personality as well as boosts her self-esteem.

They always feel that there is a pleasure when their girl's hair brush their face invoking a soft love in them.May be that's why Men mostly prefers Women with long hair with a tangled or a cascaded look which adds to a women's femininity. Adorning them are the flowers and embellishments making Hairs , a symbol of beauty.Bridal Hair - makeup are an essential in every marriage existing from decades till now.Such importance is given to the Hairs .To have a beautiful hair is no secret now as we see lots of products and ads on the same that promises for a better hair.Even lots of natural hair remedies have been published .We need only one thing - Time to spend caring for the Hair.

In today's scenario of extreme climatic changes , pollutions and development of new diseases, Hair  do gets affected easily. Being the shield for our skin and scalp , they are the ones that are afflicted first.Sun, on the other hand damages our hairs so easily that it fades our hair colour, creating dry and brittle hairs with split ends that easily breaks of.So it is necessary to take care for our hair. The below are few things that have proved to be beneficial for hairs .

Using Shampoos with SPF
Hairs like our body soaks up some heat from the summer sun leading to dehydration.Extreme heat are vulnerable to the hair causing it to dry and making it brittle. So using products that has UVA and UVB filters will help protect hair from the sun’s harmful rays.A little SPF in shampoos would always be better to protect my hair.

Shield the Hair
We tend to use stylish sunglasses to protect our eyes from the UV rays and other harmful rays from the Sun.Similarly, our hairs on our head also needs to be covered from the hot sun.Wearing a big floppy hat when I am outside esp.on summer helps protect both my hair and my face. I always plait my hair into a bun or tangle them with a hair-band on harsh weathers to minimize the attack of my hair to half .

Apply ample Oil to the Hair
I have made this a weekly routine - a Grandma's home remedy .Applying Oils especially Coconut oils is proved to help growth of my hair since it nourishes the scalp from deep within.A simple massage with oil during head bath helps the circulation of blood throughout the head which in turn makes hair long and strong. It also protects the hair from dandruffs which occurs due to dry scalp.

Minimise Caffeine Intake and Say No to Alcohols.
Research has showed that persons who frequently drink caffeinated products or alcohols tend to have their hair aged soon.Caffeine consumed via food and beverages enters your bloodstream, and eventually reaches your hair follicles (as researched by Livestrong ).A little caffeine is beneficial for promoting hair growth but excessive intake of caffeinated products delivers our hair to age soon . Avoid Alcohols too since we have known of its side-effects already.

Maintain Moisture
Exposing the hair to Sun breaks down the hair's protein 'keratin' which is the building block of the hair.Using a deep conditioning treatment with protein or keratin helps keep the damage by the sun to a minimum.Vitamin E which encourages blood circulation to the scalp area when combined with a high quality leave in conditioner makes your hair silky soft, manageable and non greasy.Always use lukewarm water for your hair.

Maintain an Healthy Diet
Healthy diet is always a part of every Mom's menu.A lot of greens , fruits and vegetables helps restoring hair to good health.Salmon , Carrots, Nuts, Drumstick leaves, Eggs, Milk ,Fish , Broccoli and Spinach are best for initiating hair growth.Drinking more water helps hydrate both the body and hair thereby preventing it from dehydration.

Invest in a good hairstylist
Your hair is your entrance slip to a beautiful face.Hairs can be arranged to give a differet outlook using combs, a blow-dryer, gel, or any other hair products.Different styles include Bun, Bob cut , Cornrows, Crop, French braid, Pigtails, Ponytails and more.Never try shy to experiment your Hair with different looks or colors.

Know your Hair
In the market , there exists different types of medications and shampoos for different hair problems.Like a doctor prescribing a certain medicine to a particular problem , one should be hair aware to know which solution works best for his or her hair.Unless the right medicine is in place, even the best brands never give the desired results. Always stick to a routine, update your feel of the hair and stay hair aware.

I have been following the above steps as my hair care routine and thanks to the Hair -Aware app by Dove that made me understand my hair. I was made Hair aware and chose the product that works right for me followed by healthy diet .My Hair's choice was Dove Hair Fall Rescue .Today , I am very happy of the results achieved since there is  no more worries of hair falls or dandruff .... and that was the end of my hair problems!

From Tangled to Brave
For their Hair, I'm a slave
Blonde or Brunette
Hairs portray a vignette
Some time Short, Some time Long
Hairs dance to the breeze song
Some time Straight, Some time curly
They sure make me feel Girly

The Library

The Light grew brighter
making them appear glossyflossy
The morning has woke them fresh

Books were arranged on their rackcot ,
Seamlessly beautiful .
They stay clinging together
finding peace with their same flesh
until the tentacles clutched them in between.
The door has opened  .
Bookworms came in and out
Picking and Embedding them back
Few tossing them around , flipzflap
Here , There and Somewhere
Up O'down they swing
between hands, laps ,wood and leathers
Till their owner find a comfortable place.

The room was getting tanned
It was time for them to relax
The tentacles finally released them
Shoving them as they departed ...

One book had a story of
how he felt the breathbreez
and the other shared of  how he met
the drizzles with words through and this
The third said of thunder storm,
Being crushed between the little fingers.
The Fourth came to them half torn.
And few parted to a new home.

The Time has come to an halt
Books were again back in place
On their Rackcot for rest-time
Seamlessly arranged ...

Puddles - a painted poem

The above picture prompt from The Mag and using prompts from Poets United
Jagged/Smooth  & Lack /Abundance .

As translated from the Tamil poem I wrote above for the same

On the jagged path of my eyes
like an eyelash you crossed
making smooth foot prints
to build up deep Puddles

On the surroundings that lack life
I see inside my eyes ,
