Today's Prompt : FIBONACCI POETRY

What is Fibonacci poetry?

Fibonacci poetry is a form based on the Fibonacci number sequence.The Fibonacci sequence begins with either zero or one, followed by one, and proceeds based on the rule that each number called a Fibonacci number is equal to the sum of the preceding two numbers. The sequence begins like this:

1 + 0 = 1

1 + 1 = 2

2 + 1 = 3

3 + 2 = 5

5 + 3 = 8

8 + 5 = 13

13 + 8 = 21

and so on.

Fibonacci poems can be written in two ways:

1) in numbers of syllables (syllable-based )or

2) in numbers of words(word-count-based).

Most people write their poems so that each line contains the number of words of its place in the sequence, and some use the sequence to determine the number of syllables in each line. Both methods follow a growth pattern giving the poem a wonderful look.

The Pandora's Box

Pandora's box is a story from Greek mythology. Lets read the poem or the poetic story of Pandora's box.

Do not open the doors when I am out

Dont go outside all alone  at night 

Do not open that cupboard of mine

Dont read my diary, it is not fine

Many dont heed to that warning

Letting again the story of Pandora in

Epimethius and Prometheus ,the jealous brothers

Angered and upset the Gods and they never bothered 

Mainly 'Zeus' the most powerful god , in conniption decided to take revenge

So created from clay , the first mortal yet beautiful women in challenge

Pandora,she was called married prometheus with her beauty and charm

Accepted the wedding gift from Zeus,a beautiful box knewing no harm

Though she was forbidden to open that box in her life ever

But her Temptation overcame restraint and finally opened  the box's cover

In a moment, all the curses were released into the earth

The evils of pain,diseases and all suffering in form of tiny moths

In horror, she closed the box, scooched over it and cried in pain 

Her husband came to her rescue but in vain

They still heard one more voice pleading her to open

Which they finally did as more worse sins had befallen

Out came fluttering from the box a beautiful dragonfly " HOPE"

which heals the wounds that the janky evil creatures develops

Although Pandora released pain and suffering upon the world

She also let out " HOPE " to follow them in bi -fold

We can learn from above that we humans cannot endure

Without Hope ,There exists never a cure

!!!!!

" So  Learn To  HOPE "

Road To The Future

Walking alone in the path

Covered in richness of  snow

Feeling so cold , I carried myself slow

Pondering upon  my still life

The past and the present days

Something which I can never alter

The future still holds a place there after

With that vision of a  hope

A hope to achieve my lost dreams

Like the snow my heart is ready to melt thee

With the slight hug of sun shine on me

I walk past the snow covered road

Crawling myself  home feeling cold

There, I found myself surrounded by warm hearts

Giving me a new hope of tomorrow

A road for me to move on ..a clasp on my fingers- my kids

Today's Prompt : Haiku

What is an Haiku ?

• Haiku is invented by Japanese and it means playful verse
• It is one form of poetry that combines form ,content and language in a meaningful, yet compact form.
• Nature, Feelings and experiences are expressed mostly in Haiku poems.
• The common form of Haiku is just 3 lines.The first one will be written with 5 syllables,second one is written with 7 syllables and the last line with again 5 syllables.Overall being only 17 syllables.-(A Syllable is an elementary sound, or a combination of elementary sounds, uttered together like now -1 syllable,today-2 syllables,everyday-3 syllables).
• The Haiku must paint a mental image on the mind of the reader who reads the Haiku.
• Haiku are emotions expressed through concrete images by writing

How to write an Haiku ?
Make sure they contain the below :

• 3-short lines of 17 syllables ( 5-7-5)
• 1-season word - something related to nature ,weathers(spring,summer,fall,winter) and also human activities
• 1-cutting word -The idea is to create a leap between the two parts of first two lines or the last two lines and to create a shift from the above two is what is called as internal comparison. These two parts sometimes create a contrast, sometime a comparison which is quite challenging for a poet.
• No rhyme , no metaphor and no - ing (gender)

Sometimes Haiku can be written in less than 17 syllables too but in 3-short lines and following the other rules as stated above.

The Three Friends

Three of the friends in snow covered  fully
Off they descend home walking slowly
Emily is always ready to initiate
And Smily always stands by her immediate
But Timidy is a little jealous of her mates
Since she was never looked up to nominate
The three always went together on their usual track
With Emily in front and Timidy at the back
On half the way a snap was taken by naughty Tom
For he always admired these threesome 
Mainly Smily to him, her looks would kill
In his heart a special place she would fill
But  for him getting near them was always a surreal
For the friendship they had is more ethereal
Though Timity is been a bit aloof  for the other two
They still stay together in rivalry too
With courageous Emily always  leading the way
And Smily eloquently does as she says
Timity , of course checking on them both
Not to forget Tom who is bouncing in his youth

The Mood Rings

The Mood Ring : Any guesses? Ah! Its fun for those who wants to read that mind of your spouse or your loved ones .Its a ring  which contains a thermo-chromic element, such as liquid crystal(being very sensitive) so that the ring changes color in response to the body temperature of its wearer.

Hmm..Be careful! I can read your mind

I am going to disclose you a secret

Be true or else at the end you will regret

I know who you are when you browse the net

Or when you tweet in your mobile under your closet

I can see and tell you who you are 

I can still read your mind any far

I have a mood ring installed under your name 

Which reads the temperature of your fingers in my mainframe

When you move them to and fro on the touch pad

It sends me data reading straight from your head

So be careful on what you type or tweet

A mood ring to read your mind, isn't it so sweet ?

The Signs of Love

The Soft look from your tender eyes
The Sudden smile makes my heart fly
The Shaking little hands and legs with laughter
Telling Signs to carry you off in my arms together
The Sucking fingers to reveal your hunger
The Strong clasp of my hand by your tiny finger
Teaches So called ' the cold heart' how to love by
Thinking Slowly.......I sigh!
That Smile ,that touch ,that look
They Surely fulfill the blossom of Motherhood
There Seems no joy like sacrificing just for our little ones
Temporary Shifting to heaven happens every time we be with them

Acrostic means a  Poetry that contains certain letters, usually the first in each line form a word or message when read in a sequence.Acrostic forms normally are :

• Single Acrostic - Common or Single letter forming the poem
• Double Acrostic - The first line and the last line form a word or message .It can be the same word/message or different word /message
• Complex Acrostic - It falls under any place say in the middle or on the first alphabet of the second or third word in a poem.

Holding my little one and walking slow
Yelp! she cried ,"Mommy,its raining"
Though it was a harmless rain falling
To prevent ourselves from any disaster
We had to run fast for our Shelter

ABC poem

• An ABC poem has 5 lines that create a mood, picture, or feeling.
• Lines 1 through 4 are made up of words, phrases or clauses and the first word of each line is in alphabetical order from the first word. 
• Line 5 is one sentence, beginning with any letter.

Pongal Festival 2011

Pongal is a famous festival celebrated in southern part of India in regard of Harvesting and worshiping the Sun .Pongal day is also known as"Tamizhar Thirunal" as it is a day of celebrations for the farmers and common man.Pongal is celebrated continuously for four days  in the name of Boggi ,Pongal ,Mattu Pongal and Kannum Pongal.Pongal dates fall between the end of Margazhi and start of Thai in Tamil Calender and in the month of January in English calender.This year Pongal is celebrated on January 15 ,2011.

Pongalo Pongal

Boggi Pongal, the first day-throwing old clothes and materials out in the fire burning

Cleaning the house and decorating it with kolams indicating a new beginning

Worshiping the Sun God on the second day of the Pongal we all shout aloud 

"PONGALO PONGAL" , when from the pot the boiling jaggery with rice flows out

New dresses and sweet dishes , an auspicious moment of happiness found

Chewing the pieces of sugar canes ,we sit and chat around

Third day is the Mattu Pongal where the farm animals are thanked 

And harvesting cows are cleaned and then colourfully decorated 

With children on their cart,they go for a fun ride in the evening

Making the roads sound in festive moods of cling cling cling

The fourth day is Kannum Pongal where family and relatives visit

Wishing each other prosperity, love and exchanging gifts  

"Wishing everyone a Happy Pongal"
